Powerful Global Search in shopVOX

Santosh Updated by Santosh

What is Global search, and how does it work?

Global Search is a powerful tool that saves you time. When a customer calls in, and gives you just enough information as to not be helpful, global search saves the day by making it easy to search lots of information instantly. Global Search looks for Customers, Contacts, Vendors, Transactions, and Contacts. This article goes over some of the basic things you should know when using global search.

What is it?

Global Search is the static search bar on the top of your shopVOX account. It allows you to quickly find all kinds of information using a process called indexing (similar to google or duckduckgo).

How Quickly Will Changes Take Place?

If you add new information, it should show up within a matter of seconds. If you search, and nothing shows up, it may be that the field you are searching doesn't work with global search, your using special characters, or that you need to wait a minute before searching if you just made the change.

  • Special characters cannot be searched at this time. Below are some of the special characters that won't be searched...please pardon my bad language... !@#$%^&*()_+-`~,.?/|\<{[=]}>
  • Search is not CaSe SenSiTiVe. So if I type "hi mom" and "Hi Mom" the results will be exactly the same.
  • Results are displayed within data sets (see next section). Search terms are usually highlighted in yellow.
