Why doesn't Material have Volume Discount, only Range Discount?

Santosh Updated by Santosh

Because Range Discounts are only applied on Products, they are unavailable on Materials.

Volume Discounts are quantity based discounts and can be applied to the following:

  • Products
  • Materials
  • Labor Rates
  • Machine Rates

An example would be if the customer buys 5 banners, then you'll give them a 10% discount on the unit price of each banner.

Range Discounts are area-based discounts (sq ft. or sq. m.) They are ONLY applied to Products.

An example would be if the customer buys banners that total over 200 sq. ft., then you'll give them a 10% discount on the price per sq. ft.

How can I discount by area on Materials?

But if you set up the Formula field in a specific Material to Area and then apply a Volume Discount, it will function similar to a range discount. The Material would be discounted based on the number of the sq. ft. or sq. m.
